Up Again After Perinatal Stroke: Amy

Amy, perinatal stroke survivor, now 29 years old

  1. My parents never let me use my disability as an excuse not to do something. They would help me figure out ways to be active and participate with other children.
  2. My physical therapist would sometimes give me sessions while I was at daycare to work around busy schedules.
  3. My parents did not tell my school in advance that I was a pediatric stroke survivor. That way, I was not labeled by my teachers or classmates.
